Douglas R. Day

When he's not working on projects for Picture Tomorrow, Doug Day works as a freelance photographer and an instructor at the Rocky Mountain School of Photography here in Missoula, Montana. Doug's two main areas of photographic interest--flora macros and international social documentary--are well represented in his assignments, his one-man and group shows, and in his published work.

Before devoting himself to photography, Doug worked various jobs in the forests of Montana, ran his own business, and directed the judging at the International Wildlife Film Festival. He has since served as a judge for the Film Festival's photo contest. Today, Doug combines his love of photography with his passion for travel. His projects have taken him to countries on five of the seven continents, including Mexico, Indonesia, Ecuador, and many countries in Africa--several of which he has crossed on bicycle. Doug could well be the world's authority on packing light for photography expeditions.

Since coming to Picture Tomorrow, Doug has increased our work on social issues. He is currently working on a project documenting health care delivery in remote sections of the world, and spearheading work on our human rights project Fundamental Freedoms.
